Combinatorial and Computational aspects of Tilings

It has been well established that the topology of the tiling space (particularly the asymptotic composants) carry the combinatorial information of 1d tiling spaces. Here we discuss the degree to which the notion of proximal pairs in the tiling space carry information on the translational dynamics, particularly the mixing properties of the tiling spaces. We will discuss some results in this direction and many open problems.
